Civil Litigation

  • With over forty years of experience as a civil litigator in New York and Washington, D.C., Mr. McMahon and his legal team have been successfully representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide array of cases. Though we can be considered a general practice firm, we have extensive experience in business disputes, contractual disputes, civil rights, employment discrimination, personal injury, wrongful termination, premises liability, MSPB litigation, asset forfeiture, OFAC designations, and foreclosures.

  • Most notably, the firm represents 11 defendants in the In re: Terrorist Attacks on September 11, 2001, 03 MDL 1570 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York— one of the most complicated cases in the country. We have successfully dismissed five of those defendants from district court and are now diligently working to defeat the appeal.

Martin F. McMahon & Associates has extensive experience in handling cases involving the Anti-Terrorism Act, the Alien Tort Statute, the Torture Victim Protection Act, the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

  • Additionally, we have secured three different punitive damage awards. Mr. McMahon was invited to speak at the Washington, D.C. Bar on this topic.
